HISTORY OF THE NNBA
A legacy of leadership.
The NNBA began in 1985 as a grassroots newsletter by a critical care nurse from California. Initially known as the “Nurse Entrepreneur’s Exchange,” the newsletter was truly ahead of its time in providing resources for nurses who aspired to be entrepreneurs. It quickly grew into the National Nurses in Business Association, creating a much larger platform for networking, education, and support. Today, the NNBA is the premier organization for nurse entrepreneurs, leading the industry with conferences, workshops, and a vibrant community of innovators.

Nena Hart: Our Visionary Leader for Nurse Entrepreneurs
Nena Hart is a seasoned entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in healthcare leadership and business innovation. As founder of Hart Healthcare Solutions, she runs a quality consulting business and empowers nurses to transition into entrepreneurship, providing a roadmap to build successful businesses. Now, as the NNBA President, Nena is dedicated to helping nurses embrace the limitless opportunities in business ownership.
Meet the Team
Casey Goff
Casey is a Licensed Practical Nurse with six years of experience in psychiatry, urgent care, IV therapy, clinical sales, and marketing. She combines clinical expertise with business insight to support nurses exploring new opportunities. Based in Winchester, Tennessee, Casey is focused on bringing fresh ideas and energy to strengthen member engagement across the NNBA. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in Data Analytics and User Experience at the University of Tennessee, and in her free time, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her dog, Gilbert.

Callie Hart
Callie began her studies in pre-nursing while living in Hawai‘i before returning home to Tennessee to be closer to her family. She has a love for community, connection, and supporting others on their journey. When she’s not working, you can usually find her sipping matcha or browsing through local vintage markets in search of unique finds.
